Welcome
As Dylan and I were planning our wedding, he didn’t offer too much input. As long as I was happy, he was pretty much ok with whatever the result was. However, there were two things he told me he would throw a fit about:
1) I had to buy a wedding dress. He said this because I considered wearing one of my friends or sisters’ dresses to save money (if they would have let me). Being the last of 4 girls, he wanted to make sure my dress wasn’t a “Hand-me-down” and told me to buy whatever dress I fancied and not to even look at the price tag (I did, but went higher than I thought I would). Although I already had my eye on a particular dress, my dress entourage (yes, I was one of THOSE girls, but I have three sisters, my mom, and a cousin who is basically a sister. We waited to go dress shopping specifically knowing the next time she would be home) encouraged me to try on a variety of dresses and the very last dress was to be the one I liked. Well, the 5 of them somehow tied on the dress vote – with 2 opposing opinions and 3 “they both look beautiful.” So, the next day, I returned with my aunt and my dad to try on the 2 favorites and whichever one made my dad cry was the winner. I would love to say he cried… but I’m pretty sure he would deny it. Either way, we walked out with one dress that day and Dylan was happy that it was super girly and frilly (the exact opposite of what I was considering originally – Lesson to brides: Don’t be afraid to try on something you wouldn’t have otherwise considered).
2) Our procession song HAD to be Josh Abott’s “She’s Like Texas.” Although, I did attempt to make it something a little different, he *insisted* that this was the song because it was what he would be listening to as I walked down the aisle, therefore, it was his song for me and he got to pick! I’m happy this was the song, even 3 years later.
Yes, this week marks our 3rd wedding anniversary! My goofy husband who makes me laugh is the same one who works harder than anyone I know to make sure our little family is taken care of. He is my number one supporter, my everyday cheerleader, and my best friend. I have absolutely NO IDEA where I would be without him and his huge heart, bear hugs, and never-ending smile.
Dylan, I love you. Way more than I can tell you. Thank you for holding my hand through this roller coaster of life and for working towards a marriage of unusual excellence that GOD has planned for us.
