I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Krissie and Joel tied the knot this past Saturday at the French Legation Museum in Austin, Texas. It was a suiting venue, as the two got engaged in the heart of French culture, New Orleans. Just as it was raining the day the two got engaged, it was raining the day they vowed forever.
Once Krissie was dressed in her wedding day attire and hugged her mama, she braved the pouring rain (and puddles) to meet her groom for the first time on their wedding day. We kept them nice and dry under the shelter of the covered porch of the museum.
Joel’s reaction to seeing Krissie for the first time on their wedding day was beautiful. His words escaped him in the joyous moment and all he could do was hug, hold, and cry with his bride to be. These reactions are why first looks are usually the favorite part of every wedding day. Take a look for yourself!
Just before Krissie set foot down the aisle on the arm of her father, the skies cleared and the sun peeked out to smile on the bride and groom. It was perfect!
YAY! They’re officially married!! The first kiss was followed by more kisses and hugs from their parents.
Instead of a bridal party, Krissie and Joel invited their niece and nephews to play flower girls and ring security for their big day! I love that they included family in such a special way!
Krissie’s grandmother was unable to make the wedding since Heaven is just a little too far to travel from, but was kept close to Krissie’s heart by way of carrying her grandmother’s locket on her bridal bouquet. It also served as Krissie’s “something blue.”
In true Austin style, Krissie and Joel invited some of the best food trucks around to cater to their guests’ taste buds! The Peached Tortilla and Slab BBQ were excellent choices!
Krissie and Joel made sure to make their wedding EXACTLY what they wanted! I LOVE that they didn’t feel obligated to include any events that they didn’t care for and threw a lot of “traditions” out the window! I think that’s what it is all about – doing your own thing and making your wedding day all about the two of you, your personalities, and your story together. Krissie and Joel did that flawlessly!
The father daughter dance gets me every time! So sweet!
Krissie and Joel, thank you so much for inviting Dylan and me to be your French Legation Museum Wedding Photographer! We had so much fun running through the rain with y’all and LOVE that y’all were BOTH so giddy that the rain didn’t even phase y’all! The bigger picture – marrying the love of your life – was the only thing that mattered and we just adore that! THANK YOU for being so awesome! We wish you the absolute best!
