I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
For their first year anniversary, Brett and Alyssa decided to explore the city that brought them together and have this joyful season in their lives documented. Both originally from Kansas, the two met and fell in love in Georgetown, Texas. Alyssa moved here for a job, when the person training her told her she had to introduce her to her future boyfriend. Alyssa met said “future boyfriend” at church. He quickly told her that he wasn’t interested in being her friend – he was ONLY looking for wife material. While that did give her some hesitation, the two started dating, but only for 7 weeks. Then, Brett decided he didn’t want Alyssa to be his girlfriend anymore. Instead, he proposed with a Disney balloon with a ring tied to it. She said yes and the two tied the knot in their home state.
Matching shirts, matching necklaces, and matching coffee mugs?!?! YES, please! I knew this anniversary session was going to be an absolute blast from the very start of it! Just look at the above photo on the right! Brett can make Alyssa laugh without even trying!
I feel like if you know Brett, you would expect nothing less than toy dinosaurs to appear in this anniversary session!
After shooting for a bit at one of their favorite date spots, Red Poppy Cafe, we headed into the library, as Brett can often be found here.
These two are just THE CUTEST!! Seriously!
This next shot is very 50s chic, to me! I could just see them being friends with kids at Rydell High circa 1958. Brett insisted that their session be “Denim Vest Fun” – and it was!
Originally, we planned on heading to Lake Georgetown after Red Poppy Cafe, as the two started officially dating after a boat ride there. Last minute, we opted to stay in the downtown area instead of making the drive to the lake. I’m so glad we did, as these two will have a lot more diversity in the background of their images! When I suggested that we stop in this alley behind an antique store, these newlyweds didn’t bat an eye and said, almost simultaneously, “We’re up for anything!”
To wrap up, we headed to The Union on Eighth. It was honestly too dark to be shooting with natural light, but I was having way too much fun as these newlyweds’ Georgetown Texas Anniversary Photographer! I imagine that if you know them, you would probably say the same thing about spending time with them! Which reminds me – if you DO know these two, ask them about their first kiss! :D
Brett and Alyssa, thank you SO MUCH for spending your Wednesday evening with me and for making it such a fun shoot! Your joy is absolutely contagious and I wish everyone had your “up for anything” spirit! I hope these images remind you – forever – of how much the two of you love spending time together and the fun y’all have on a daily basis!
XOXO,
Mylah Renae
