2.5 year ago, Dylan and I photographed their wedding in Georgetown, Texas.  Last week, I had the joy and honor of photographing their maternity session.  

Not only has this beautiful mama-to-be referred us to a few of her engaged friends, she trusted us with this next chapter in her life.  More than maternity photos, I will likely be at the hospital when baby boy is welcomed into this world to document his first few moments and the first sweet snuggles as a family.  That humbles me.  I know there are photographers out there who treat their business as just that – a business where each wedding is a new transaction.  I don’t want that.  It’s the relationships formed, getting to know each couple specifically that allows us to do the best job possible for each couple and their story together.  They have to trust us enough to invite us in on the crazy hectic moments of the wedding, the tearful (be it joyful or sorrowful) moments of the wedding, and allow us to sit with them within each of those moments and document those for them.  Not only do they trust us to photograph their big day, they trust us around their friends and family and to capture the essence of the emotion of the day.  All of that is embodied and reinforced when I’m asked to be at the hospital as this couple anticipates the arrival of their son.  That’s a super personal moment, surrounded by only their closest friends and family and I’m invited to be a part of that moment in time, to capture it for the future generations of this family.  I’ll be there, camera in hand, to prove that love exists in this family and that this baby boy is so very adored.
