I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Laura and Garrett met her freshman year of college at The University of Texas. She was joining a business club and each freshman had a big brother or big sister within the club to show them the ropes. Garrett was assigned as Laura’s big brother in the club that year. They found themselves hanging out during club events and soon their relationship grew into something more than friendship. They were a bit hesitant to take the risk on their friendship, but it was a risk worth taking. The two were married this Saturday in Georgetown Texas and it was an honor to be their Lois Perkins Chapel wedding photographer!
Laura gifted her flower girl a locket. Penny said it was the first locket she’d ever had and was absolutely head over heels with it! She had Laura help her put it on before heading straight to the mirror to admire it! Everyone giggled when she called the rose petal hidden inside the locket “sneaky” for hiding in her gift! She was so cute and was such a joy to have around! She couldn’t help but smile at Laura all day and even carried her dress!
Laura’s mom took a moment in the bridal suite, with just her daughters present, to tell Laura how proud she was of her. It was a big day for the entire family, as Laura is the first grandchild on this side of the family to get married. Then, Laura’s dad was brought in to have the first peek at the bride in her wedding gown!
After a prayer with her immediate family, Laura’s bridesmaids had their chance to admire Laura’s bridal look!
Once everyone was dressed and ready, it was time to head to the church! Laura and Garrett’s wedding ceremony took place at Southwestern University’s Lois Perkins Chapel in Georgetown. They opted for a first look, which is a great way to enjoy your future spouse’s true reaction to seeing you for the first time on your wedding day. It also helps to calm your nerves by seeing the one person you’re most anxious to on your wedding day.
I loved Garrett’s reactions to fully seeing Laura’s dress! They had taken some time with holding hands and smiling at each other that it took him a minute to notice the beautiful cut outs and beading around the waist. He was impressed!
Laura wore her grandmother’s jewelry on her wedding day. It was her “something old” to go with the rhyme. Her grandmother even let her borrow the matching earrings to be her “something borrowed.” The gems were opal, which symbolize love, passion, loyalty, and faithfulness. That is a great combination to start a marriage with!
I’m head over heels for this color palette! The soft purples, with blush and neutrals will always be a favorite!
Once they were pronounced man and wife, Garrett kissed Laura for the first time as a married couple! I can’t remember ever hearing as much cheering inside a church building as I did in this moment! Everyone in the congregation was so excited for them and couldn’t help but celebrate! The officiant actually had to wait a bit before continuing due to the jubilation inside! It was a wonderful moment and really revealed how much these two are loved!
After their vows were made in their Lois Perkins Chapel wedding, everyone was invited back to The Milestone in Georgetown for drinks, dinner, and dancing! Before the party got into full swing, we took a few minutes for some “just married” portraits!
This next shot is definitely a favorite of mine from their wedding day! Garrett could not take his eyes off of Laura ALL day! Seriously! This next picture, to me, sums up so much of their day: the joy, the love, and the admiration!
Their wedding reception setup is one of my all time favorites! I love the beautiful florals, the perfect color palette, and the high-low centerpieces which allow guests to freely mingle with everyone at the table.
If you missed their toasts, make sure you ask Laura’s sister about the talent show and Garrett’s brother about the secret to the veggie section sprinkler system at the grocery store!
Garrett and Laura, thank you SO MUCH for inviting us to be your Lois Perkins Chapel wedding photographer! We have truly enjoyed getting to know y’all over the last 15 months and wish y’all the absolute best! The next time y’all are in Austin, we want y’all to introduce us to Lazarus Brewery! Deal?! ;)
