I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
When Jess was attending the University of Texas, she became super close with a group of friends that would tell funny stories about their friend, Spenser. He was a Marine stationed in Afghanistan at the time. After hearing so many stories about him, Jess decided to look Spenser up on Facebook. She thought he was a hottie, so added him as a friend. He thought she was a hottie (and saw that they had lots of mutual friends), so he accepted. When his tour was finished, Spenser returned to Austin to finish school. As soon as the two met in-person, Spenser asked Jess out on a date and she said yes. The two have been dating for 6 years and officially became husband and wife last Sunday in Dripping Springs. It was an honor to be their Vista West Ranch wedding photographer.
Once Jess was dressed in her wedding gown with her Kendra Scott jewelry on, her mom handed her a present. Inside, she found a miniature tea set that she used to play with with her grandmother.
Jess says that one of her best friends is her dad. He was the first one to get a peek at the bride before the day got started. There were tears of joy and sweet words of affirmation. Jess’ dad spoke highly of Spenser and reaffirmed his blessing of the new marriage.
Then, Jess’ Bride Tribe was brought in! They were pretty excited to see their bestie all dolled up for her blush wedding at Vista West Ranch!
Jess and Spenser opted for a first look. It’s a great chance to spend more time with the one person you really want to on your wedding day: your future spouse! They were able to cry together, kiss, hug, and tell each other everything they were excited about that day!
Jess let me know that she LOVES spinning dress shots! Well, those just happen to be some of my favorites, as well!
I love mix-matched bridesmaids dresses!
Another reason you will always want to make sure you have a second photographer on your wedding day is for images like this next one. Dylan captured some pretty sweet moments between Jess and her dad moments before the walk down the aisle at Vista West Ranch.
Again, this next shot is Dylan’s. He’s always looking for different angles, like this one from the bridal suite overlooking the ceremony.
This next moment is one of my favorites from Jess & Spenser’s Vista West Ranch Wedding! As soon as she had finished vowing forever to Spenser (including promising to go to the midnight opening of EVERY Star Wars movie to come – loved that!), he picked up her hand to kiss it softly. It’s the little, sweet gestures like this one that stand out to me. This wedding was full of them and you can tell how much these two care for one another!
Guests were welcomed to a blush and gold barn wedding reception at Vista West Ranch. They added a touch of modern with geometric shapes, quartz stones, and glass signs.
It wouldn’t be a Star Wars wedding without the Millennium Falcon! They also had a sign directing guests to their wedding in a barn “far, far away”, played music from the Star Wars soundtrack, and had light sabers for their grand exit! Jess said that one of the very first things that attracted her to Spenser was that she felt she could be truly herself around him from the very beginning. That’s because on their very first date, he was nervous and made Chewbacca noises. She found it endearing!
My new favorite thing to use for wedding exits: Light sabers!!!!
Jess and Spenser – thank you SO MUCH for inviting us to be your Vista West Ranch wedding photographer! I’ve enjoyed getting to know y’all over the last year and loved seeing your dream day come to life! I love that y’all made your wedding day exactly what you wanted! From having Torchy’s Tacos cater, to incorporating your love of Star Wars into your day, and bringing those you love most together in one place to celebrate with y’all, y’all truly had an amazing day and I consider myself lucky to have been a witness to it! Congratulations!
