I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
After being paired up together for a project in English class, Christie and Jon found themselves hanging out together with friends. After a while, Jon let Christie know that he would like to take her out on a date – without any other friends present. She said yes and the two were married this past Saturday. It was a joy to be their Horseshoe Bay Resort wedding photography team!
Christie designed their wedding invitations! Jon, a geologist, hand-picked the stones in Christie’s engagement ring! These two put so much love and attention into their big day!
Christie and Jon opted for a first look! It was the perfect opportunity to get some of those wedding day jitters out and spend more time with the one person you want to: your future spouse!
I’d say they were pretty happy to have chosen to include a first look into their wedding day! As a bonus, they also got all these beautiful wedding portraits of just the two of them!
Another bonus of having a first look is that we’re able to take most of the pictures before the ceremony. That means the wedding party and family members can get to the party even faster!
The adorable flower girl is Christie’s niece! They even wore matching shoes under their white dresses! It was so cute to watch Josie look at her aunt like she was a Disney princess!
Even though they had already seen each other and spent a few hours with their closest friends and family, Jon still cried as Christie walked down the aisle. This moment was 8 years in the making and was absolutely worth the wait!
The above shot is Jon hugging his brand new bride’s dad. Christie’s father had a stroke in August, only one month before Christie’s wedding. He knows that there are usually many complications after having a stroke, including hardships with walking. Christie’s dad was so very thankful that he was not only able to walk his third daughter down the aisle, but that he was able to dance with her at her Horseshoe Bay Resort wedding, as well! It’s the little moments and the stories behind them that make what we do that much more rewarding.
Christie’s favorite part of her wedding dress was the lace detailing on the side! She also said that when she went dress shopping, she knew that she wanted it to be this material. It was such a beautiful dress for a classic bride!
It had threatened to rain on their wedding day. The entire week leading up the wedding, it rained every day and the forecast the night before was still calling for a 60-80% chance of rain all day. However, on the morning of the wedding, the forecast changed! There was not a drop of rain, so they were able to keep their Horseshoe Bay Resort wedding reception outside under the Texas sky!
Christie and Jon, thank you so much for inviting us to be your Horseshoe Bay Resort Wedding Photography Team! We loved getting to celebrate with y’all and your sweet families! Y’all had a perfect day and it was a joy to capture it for you!
