Welcome
Dylan and I have been looking for puppies for MONTHS!!! When we finally found a breeder that we liked, we told her we wanted a boy. As it turns out, the litter produced solely girls. Without too much hesitation, Dylan jumped at the opportunity to have a little puppy of his own, even if she was a girl. Well, that little girl turned three months old today and is the newest addition to our little family!
We got to see her the day after she was born, all 14 oz of her. At this point, we thought we were going to go home with a merel or mantle great dane, but GOD had other plans for us. Dylan will probably deny this, but when he picked up our puppy, our Lola, he said he “had this feeling” that he didn’t have while holding the other two puppies we were considering. And, that, right there, friends, is what we like to call love at first sight. Eight weeks later, we got to take home our baby.
Her very first night with us, she got to go to our Thursday night small group from church and meet everyone. This must have worn her out, as she didn’t keep us up that night like so many people had warned us she would. When I woke up the next morning, I couldn’t find my husband or puppy. Dylan had gotten up to take her potty and thought she was up for the day. He took her to the living room, where he laid down on the couch. She laid right next to him and I found them like this:
Doesn’t that just MELT YOUR HEART!?!?! I know it did mine! For most of the first week, she slept.
We bought her a pool, that she still isn’t sure about. She mostly steps through it, but hasn’t really gotten the hang of swimming/splashing, yet. Maybe because she thinks we’re going to bathe her, which she still doesn’t like. She doesn’t get scared as much as she did the first time, but still tries to escape once the soap hits her. We bathe her in the tub, so the water is warm, and she does play in the water…until the soap gets involved.
She LOVES sticks. Honestly, I don’t know why we bothered to buy her toys at all… Dylan is head over heals in love with this puppy!! Seriously. The third night we had her, we invited my family to come over to meet her. My dad looked me straight in the eye and said “I’m so sorry, Mylah. It looks like you’ve been replaced.” True statement. Another true statement is that Dylan didn’t eat dinner with the family that night, so Lola wouldn’t have to be alone in our room while we ate. Yep, she has had her dad wrapped around her finger since she got here, yall. He is the first one in the grass with her, too.
Don’t you just love her eyes?!? Yes, I think she is a gorgeous puppy!
She is getting better about the clumsiness but still has troubles knowing how long her own legs are.
In this photo, you can kind of see that her eyelashes are different colors. The ones on our right looking at the photo are black, while the eyelashes on the left are white. SO NEAT!
Just for comparison sake, I put my own hands and feet in the photo with hers. Look how big she already is!! This was taken almost two weeks ago, too!
I realize this photo is out of focus, but I love that she looks like such a little puppy here! :D
The first night we had her, she refused to be put down. If you did put her on the floor, she would get in your lap (because, of course, we were on the floor with her). She would walk from my lap to Dylan’s and back, but if we were too far apart that she thought she would have to touch the floor, she would just stay in whomever’s lap she was already in. Unfortunately, she has already gotten to big for my lap. :( While this does break my heart, she is still my little lap puppy and likes to put her head on my lap when she naps. Seriously, yall, Dylan and I are so in love with this puppy! Of course, I’ll be sharing more and more photos as she gets bigger!
