I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
After an eight year courtship that started in high school, Matt and Kayln tied the knot this past Sunday at Pecan Springs Ranch in Austin, TX.
Kayln’s dress was absolutely STUNNING! One of her bridesmaids called it “Old Hollywood Glamour.”
One of Kayln’s favorite features of Pecan Springs Ranch was the iron gate she imagined walking down the aisle out of. She actually cried when she saw first saw it, which solidified Pecan Springs Ranch as her wedding venue. As it turns out, her wedding day was rainy and cold (much like their engagement session). They made the most out of the situation and opted to brave the cold (twenty-eight degrees, as the chauffeur told me at the end of the night) for their first look, allowing her to still walk through the iron gate to the fireplace outside where Matt was waiting to see his bride.
You can barely see them in the image on the right, but both of their moms and all of the bridesmaids were peeking out the windows of the bride’s cottage to witness Matt and Kayln’s reactions to seeing one another.
Kayln and her dad also shared a first look.
One of Matt’s vows to Kayln was to always dry her tears. Since she was crying during the ceremony, he was given his first chance to do so.
While outside for the EIGHT FULL MINUTES we braved the cold, Kayln and I both swear we saw snow flurries! It was pretty neat! (Matt and Dylan still think we’re both crazy…) In conjunction with their guest book, Matt and Kayln had their guests sign Jenga blocks with marriage advice and well wishes! SUCH a great idea!
Apparently, Kayln can wrap like Eminem.
You can really tell how special Matt and Kayln are by how the people at their wedding loved on them. The very last dance, everyone – EVERYONE circled around them to share in their last dance of their wedding night. It was a very sentimental moment and I’m absolutely honored to have been there to witness it.
Matt and Kayln – THANK YOU for inviting Dylan and I into your celebration. Thank you for being so flexible with your plans. It takes a very kind heart to be able to joyously accept last minute changes to months of planning and envisioning. It may not have been what you intended, but I truly believe y’all had the perfect wedding celebration surrounded by loved ones.

Mark and I can’t thank you enough for being there on Kayln and Matt’s wedding day to take pictures. Granted the weather took a turn, but it didn’t prevent the beautiful moments you were able to capture. We absolutely love all the pictures!

[…] I would say that doing a first look was the right choice for Matt and I. I tend to be an emotional person and I knew getting closer to the day that I would be a crying mess. Not because I was sad but because I’d be overwhelmed with happiness. Pin It Doing the first look really gave Matt and I the opportunity to let go of some of the jitters we were both feeling before the ceremony and allowed another quiet moment for just the two of us to be together. The day goes by so fast that you don’t really get the opportunity for that. We also exchanged gifts at this time and we were able to share that moment together. I would say that doing the first look really allowed the both of us to focus on other things during the ceremony because we weren’t stunned or overcome by emotion. I certainly don’t think it took away from the walk down the aisle because I was able to look at him with clear eyes after our first look. My favorite memory of the day was being surrounded by all of our family and friends at the end of the night singing “Don’t Stop Believing” but I would say our first look came in at a close 2nd. Pin It I’d do a first look all over again if I could… There was something really special about seeing each other one last time as a couple before we became husband and wife. I think some people are afraid of doing a first look because they may be afraid of it “taking away” from their moment down the aisle but for us it didn’t. If anything, it helped us tremendously! Standing in front of a crowd of people can be extremely nerve wracking… Especially if you’re not a couple that publicly displays affection a whole lot. Having the first look helped us ease into the process instead of jumping right in. – Kayln Vaughn, Pecan Springs Ranch Wedding […]
