I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
When Tommy first asked Carly out on a date, she said no. Not because she didn’t think they would be a good fit and not because she didn’t think Tommy was cute, but because she knew she would soon be leaving Texas Tech to move to Austin and didn’t want to start something she would get attached to. As luck would have it, fate soon revealed that Tommy and Carly would BOTH be moving back to the Live Music Capital after graduation. So, when Tommy asked her out, again, Carly said yes.
The proposal story from Carly: “His scavenger hunt was around the room on our 4 year anniversary of dating each other and it ended with Simba’s collar reading “Where do I army crawl?” (that’s an inside joke that we have in which Simba does this funny crawl under the bed). So I went to go look under the bed and there was a box…not a “ring box,” mind you, so it threw me off. Inside the box was my grandmothers necklace. I have worn it constantly since she passed away (my grandparents were a HUGE part of my life – they all helped raise me-my grandmother and grandfather- including my 101 GREAT grandmother who taught me to sew which was why I included the blanket in our engagement session so I could represent her, too) and it had broken the month before and I was heart broken. I couldn’t wear my grandmother’s necklace now. Tommy had had the necklace fixed. Well I was immediately sold thinking this was the best engagement present ever!!! I pulled the necklace out to put it back on and there was the ring – attached to the end of it! :) He got down on one knee and proposed. :) He told me he knew how much my family meant to me and he wanted to include them in our proposal. “
I don’t usually torture clients by making them face the sun for their portraits, but Tommy and Carly wanted to incorporate the Austin skyline in their engagement session. So, we headed to Auditorium Shores and snuck this in for them.
This map shows where these two met (at school in Lubbock) and where they plan to spend the rest of their life together (Austin, TX).
I adore that they brought their baby to their session with them, so I’ll end the post here. With puppy kisses.
Tommy and Carly, thank you so much for spending your afternoon with me! I had an absolute blast hanging out with y’all and being able to love on your puppy!
All my best,
Mylah Renae
