I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Jon and Michelle have been dating for nearly 10 years. Most of their friends knew they would be together forever when Jon announced that he wanted to be a deep-sea fisherman and Michelle, without hesitation, packed up her life in Austin to move to the sea so Jon could pursue his dream. The two tied the knot at Twisted Ranch last weekend and it was an honor to photograph their wedding!
I’d say they were pretty excited to finally be married…
I just love that Jon and Michelle did their grand exit from the Little White Chapel at Twisted Ranch immediately after their ceremony! So fun!
Michelle’s side of their proposal: “For my birthday every year we go to The State Fair in Dallas. So when we met up with friends and family at the foot of Big Tex this year, I didn’t even question why Jon was being interviewed by the local news reporters. He is a well-spoken, loud fan and the news reporters always seem to find him. But this time he called my name, I turned around and he was on one knee. I didn’t see the camera in my face or the people watching. I dropped the 4-foot stuffed Bevo he won me and knew my life was about to change forever. For a long time I thought I didn’t need the ring. But in that moment I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding for the last nine years. I felt whole and complete.”
Since Jon is a deep sea fisherman, it is only proper that he “filet-ed” the fish that was in his Yeti Cooler groom’s cake!
Jon and Michelle chose to include several Czech traditions into their wedding. Besides her rosemary bridal wreath (headband) and the sharing of the soup (which is like sharing of the cake), the two opted for the breaking of the plate. Michelle’s brother threw a plate on the ground. The number of broken pieces is supposed to represent the number of years they will spend together happily married (and there were a TON of peices!!!). Then, the two cleaned up the broken plate to prove that they can work well together and are willing to cooperate as a team in all of life’s challenges.
As this sweet Llama was eating Michelle’s bridal bouquet, Michelle yelled “Don’t tell Miss Cheri!!!” (Cheri is the florist at Gala Gal who truly outdid herself on Michelle’s bouquet! It was GORGEOUS!) Michelle than had a serious discussion with the llama about how friends don’t steal from friends (like the llama was stealing Michelle’s bouquet) and about how roses probably weren’t on the llama’s diet… It was quite a hoot to listen to!
