I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Jenna and Luke officially tied the knot after being together for 8 years! It was a beautiful ceremony with more emphasis placed on relationships and friendships than anything else. Even all the bridesmaids had a slumber party at Jenna’s house the night before the wedding!
Luke and Jenna each wrote each other a special note and exchanged them before the ceremony. I don’t know what Jenna wrote to Luke, but there was a note for him before the ceremony and after the ceremony. Jenna’s note from Luke included a picture frame that was for her to keep with the picture of his face at the first moment he saw her walking down the aisle as his bride. It was a sweet moment in the bridal suite that made Jenna a little teary-eyed. :D
Luke and Jenna tied the knot at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kyle, TX.
Dylan usually hangs towards the back of the ceremony location and I’m SO SO SO very glad he did for Luke and Jenna! He caught this sweet moment between them celebrating their first moments as man and wife.
After the ceremony, everyone headed to Embassy Suites in San Marcos for their wedding reception.
Again, Jenna and Luke had SO MANY personal details that encouraged guests to speak words of encouragement into their marriage. Every seat had cards that let guests give a great date night idea, reminded the couple of how they met the guest, or give the couple advice to be opened on a certain anniversary. I absolutely ADORED this.
I didn’t realize this until I was going through Dylan’s images, but Jenna’s sister and matron of honor WON their wedding favors for Luke and Jenna! How awesome is that! Way to go, Megan!!! (And if you think that makes her an awesome Matron of Honor(which it TOTALLY does), just WAIT until you read about her speech….)
Jenna and Luke really hit home that they were all about the PEOPLE in their lives and that they value relationships in every way that they could, truly. Each groomsman and bridesbabe was given their very own bio page for guests to learn about them. Yes, Jenna is SO CUTE that she called all her bridesmaids “Bridesbabes!” She has the sweetest personality!
Not only were kids given their very own coloring books, when it came time for Jenna to throw the bouquet, she gave every little girl her very own veil to wear at the reception. (Yes, I really wanted to wear one, but thought it might look “unprofessional” – Don’t judge me!) Rings and lollipops were also given out, so the boys weren’t left out, either. She is one of THE most thoughtful people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
So guests wouldn’t have to wait on dessert after dinner, Luke and Jenna cut the cake beforehand, so all their friends and family could enjoy the sweets when they were ready.
Jenna’s mom gave a sweet speech about a 4-year-old Jenna at a wedding. She said that when she got married, her husband had to have certain qualities. The very last one her mom mentioned was that 4-year-old Jenna wanted her husband to be rich. When her mom asked her little-kid self what she thought was rich, Jenna answered that if he had $100, he would be rich. As a test (and the final check for little Jenna’s list), Luke proved that he could provide by pulling out a hundred dollar bill. Everyone cheered as Luke showed himself to be worthy of Jenna’s “dream man.”
Jenna’s sister, Megan, is already awesome in that she won their wedding favors. (Best Matron of Honor award was just taken!) Then, she OUTDID herself by RAPPING her speech for Luke and Jenna to the tune of “Ice Ice Baby.” It was a TOTAL hit!!!
Luke and Jenna’s friends and family entered to the Grand March, which ends with everyone encircling the newlyweds for their first dance. My favorite part is that Luke and Jenna BOTH closed their eyes while dancing, as if trying to take in everything about that moment to remember forever.
Jenna’s grandparents have been married for 60+ years! At the end of the married couples’ dance, they gave their own advice to the newlyweds. After that, Luke and Jenna agreed on EVERY question posed to them about their relationship. It was a fun game that let guests get an even better idea of the newlyweds and their relationship.
If I haven’t already said it, Jenna and Luke really wanted their guests to enjoy their big day just as much as the two of them! With that, Jenna unwrapped her toss bouquet so that EVERY girl would walk away with a piece of it. So SWEET!
That’s right. Luke serenaded Jenna on their wedding day. Every girls dream! Luke and Jenna, THANK YOU for choosing Dylan and me to photograph your wedding. We had an absolute blast with y’all and adore all the ways that you two put relationships and people first. It is truly inspirational. Even every email I received from y’all was encouraging and uplifting – thank you for that! It means the world to us!
XOXO,
