I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Hold on to your seats, friends, because this is a DOOZY of a wedding (I really should split this blog post into two sections, but cannot bare waiting until next week to share it)! Every detail of this rustic, elegant wedding is GORGEOUS and has a special meaning.
Karen totally rocked these shoes as her something blue!
Karen’s dad gave her this cross for her wedding. To keep it close to her heart, she pinned it on the inside of her Stella York wedding dress.
Brad and Karen opted for a first look, which was an awesome opportunity for the two of them to embrace each other and love on one another before the ceremony. It is also a great time to sneak in a few extra minutes of photos!
All the groomsmen went to Texas A&M, so they were all reppin’ with their Aggie rings!
Brad and Karen tied the knot in his hometown of Yoakum, Texas, in his parents’ church.
This was a very special moment for the officiant, as well, as this is his FIFTH wedding ceremony to perform for the Leist family!
Immediately after the ceremony, we snuck away to Brad and Karen’s future home, which is a Texas historical landmark! It is a super personal location to them and will now include their wedding day memories!
Brad and Karen’s wedding reception was held at The Venue on Church Street in Cuero, TX. It, too, is a historical building that used to be home to a furniture store and has now been converted. The hardwood floors are original (and are GREAT for two-stepping)!
Brad’s all time favorite drink is Dr. Pepper and Karen has been referred to as ” the water bottle girl” because she is always carrying a water bottle! With this, they decided to give out personalized water bottles and Dr. Pepper’s to guests as favors! Y’all! These sequined crocheted linens were GORGEOUS!!! I’ve never seen anything like them and just LOVE them! No wonder Karen updated her linen order a week before the wedding JUST for these beauties!
One of the MANY perks to being the super adorable niece of the bride and groom: They sneak you cake before anyone else has had a chance to try it!
I’ll give you two guesses as to what song these sweet girls are singing on stage at the TOP of their lungs. Did you guess “Let it Go?” If so – you win! Also, I may have started to cry behind my camera during this song. Somewhere between the ceremony and the reception, I posted a sneak-peek photo on Instagram and when I did, I got a text from my sister that said: “X-ray is very bad; Starting IV; about to do an ultrasound to see if there is any fluid in the lung.” That was ALL I got and knew it had to deal with one of our little sweets (niece & nephews). So when all of these little cuties got on stage, I lost it. (There were a few overnight hospital stays for the cutie-patootie, but everyone is home and doing well!)
Brad and Karen – THANK YOU for inviting Dylan and me to be a part of your special day! You made us feel so very welcome – especially when Karen volunteered to drive to the drug store to get me some cough drops on YOUR wedding day! (I wasn’t sick, but she was so super sweet to offer when she thought my voice sounded hoarse!!! Doesn’t that make you just want to hug her?!?) Also, thank you for pointing out the HUGE spider on the front porch – I would have panicked a little if I’d come across it without warning (which you’re both aware of)! :D Dylan and I both feel blessed to have shared in such a fun journey with y’all! THANK YOU!
