Welcome
This past weekend, I had the honor of photographing Chris and Paige’s proposal and engagement story! After a day of golfing, the two headed to Flat Creek Winey, a place Paige has always wanted to try since she drives past it almost every day. Since Paige doesn’t get many Saturdays off, as she works in the wedding industry, this Saturday afternoon spent at a winery promised to be a great afternoon! She didn’t realize at the time, though, that it was also the three year anniversary weekend of the very first time she met Chris.
They sat at the picnic table under the above Oak Tree to enjoy a spread of cheese, fruits, and meat with their wine they had just picked up at the tasting room. (If I’m not mistaken, the tasting room was actually closed that day, as the team was prepping to pick the grapes. With that, the owner of Flat Creek Winery was the one who packed their picnic basket and presented it to Chris and Paige. That is FABULOUS service!) Then, this girl “randomly” approached them to chat about why the vines were covered. She asked if they would take a photo of her and she, in return, would take a photo of them. She took a photo on Paige’s phone and on her camera. This is what was produced:
I thought Chris would propose here, at this moment. But he didn’t. I thought he would grab the bottle of wine that had a very important question printed on it’s label. But he didn’t. Instead, he walked into the vines and Paige followed him. Then, he said something really sweet about one day hoping to have a similar piece of land and, ideally, Paige would stand by his side to share that land with him. Before she could breathe in that moment and the promise behind his sweet words, Chris asked Paige to be his wife and got down on one knee.
She said yes and many tears, hugs, and kisses followed.
Chris revealed that the bottle of wine they had been enjoying had the question on it the entire time they were enjoying their picnic. Paige loved that it also quoted Scripture. Chris included I Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. But the greatest of these is Love.”
The very first person the duo called to share the good news with was Paige’s mom. Then, they tried to convince Chris’ mom to let them elope in Las Vegas! HA! She made them promise to stop by her home so she could celebrate with them and see the ring! What Paige didn’t know was that Chris had arranged for their closest friends and family to meet them at his mother’s home immediately after. Paige’s family played it off SO WELL when they chatted over the phone – they all said they were sad they would have to wait “until next time” to see them – knowing all along they were in hiding, waiting to surprise her. Chris planned out everything!
They both loved looking at the ring and the promise it holds for their future together! It was pretty sweet! Chris and Paige – CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is going to be SUCH an exciting time for y’all and I’m so glad I was able to witness the big moment and document your proposal story to share with your friends and family! Thank you for inviting me in on such a perfect memory of your love story. It was an honor to document your proposal!
