I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
There is something about couples who get married at Texas Old Town that makes me feel like we know each other before we ever even have a chance to meet. Maybe it is because everything at this wedding venue lends itself to simplicity that allows the day to be focused solely on the couple getting married. Maybe it is due to the fact that Texas Old Town, as its name would imply, reminds you of the way things used to be, when things were built to last and marriages were a commitment you vowed to keep for the rest of forever. Maybe it is the natural beauty of this venue that makes everyone want to enjoy the moment, the “here and now,” and the significance of the events of the day. Maybe it is due to the barn-like feel that make every couple want to decorate, at least in part, with mason jars and burlap and lace. Maybe it is my bias towards outdoor, country weddings. Maybe it is because this very same wedding venue, Texas Old Town in Kyle, TX, is where Dylan and I choose to say very similar wedding vows and committed ourselves to each other forever and for always in front of our closest friends, family, and GOD. Whatever it is, I feel like I knew Brian and Alex before they welcomed me into the day that would forever tie them together. Here is what that day looked like for Brian and Alex:
Brian made that box by hand to give to Alex on their wedding day. Tears filled her eyes as she opened it to find a beautiful necklace for Brian’s beautiful princess to wear that day. Once Alex was in her dress, her viel put in place and her make-up perfected, we went to meet Brian for their first look.
He thought it was some new form of torture: getting him in place to finally see his bride just to make him wait. And THAT? Right there? That right there, my friends, is a groom caught checking out his soon to be Wife! WHAT WHAT! GET IT!
While these two were committing themselves to each other, they were also committing to one other very important and OH SO CUTE person: their daughter.
Brian and Alex had bubbles blown around them as they walked back down the aisle as man and wife!
After their ceremony, we were able to sneak away for some gorgeous sunset photos. This is the absolute best lighting for photographs, so I’m so glad their wedding planner, Yellow Umbrella Events, was able to include this portrait session into their wedding day.
While some guests were dancing the night away, others were enjoying the Hot Chocolate bar! Which, in my opinion, is WAY better than a candy bar, especially on a chilly night in February!
After the Bride and Groom’s first dance, the father & daughter dance, and the mother & son dance, there were the daughter and daddy dance. This is the cutest thing and if there is already a little one in the family, why not include them into the big day like this?
If you missed the cake toppers, Brian is a firefighter. What better way for him and his new bride to leave their wedding than on the back of an old fire engine? FUN!
Brian and Alex, THANK YOU so much for inviting me to share in your day!
