I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Amanda wanted something very specific for her bridal session. She works on a deer hunting ranch and it is there that she met her now husband, John. With this being such a large part of their love story, she knew she wanted to incorporate it into her wedding decor AND her bridal portraits. Over two months in advance, we secured a location that would allow us to photograph her in her wedding dress among deer! She would have a Snow White moment and was going to be able to hand-feed deer, even the babies!
Well, when the day rolled around, the weather was not on our side. Truthfully, it has rained across Texas for most of the year and has created floods all over the state. We had to make a difficult decision. Amanda decided to give up the deer in order to keep her bridal session on the original date scheduled. We had a last minute venue change, but it was the right call. She had driven hours north and her best friend and mother had driven hours south to all be in the same location for Amanda’s bridal session. They probably wouldn’t make it, if we had to reschedule. On top of that, she already had her hair and make-up and floral crown ordered.
We changed our location to Amanda’s wedding venue, The Creek Haus. I’m so thankful that the venue was kind enough to open up their doors to us last minute AND that they provided such a beautiful backdrop for Amanda’s bridal portraits! We had more than enough variety in location AND we were safe from the rain that was coming down incessantly. I cannot say enough great things about the rustic Dripping Springs wedding venue and the owners! Here’s a peek at Amanda’s Creek Haus Bridal Portraits.
You can see in this next photo just how much it was raining. There was water coming in on the patio and, if you look closely, you can see some of the rain (small white streaks) in front of the trees. It really was coming down with a boisterous thunder!
I love that Amanda truly was up for anything at her bridal session! One of her wedding colors was pink and this antique-y dresser was the perfect shade, so we just knew we had to incorporate it into the photos somehow! If you couldn’t tell, we mostly just had fun this afternoon!
This is one of my favorites from Amanda’s Creek Haus Bridal Portraits!
It cleared up long enough for us to take some quick portraits with the beautiful creek as the background and I’m so thankful for that break in the clouds! This is what The Creek Haus looked like with a wicked storm passing behind it. Of course, as we were driving away, we saw GOD’s promise in the form of a rainbow.
If you want to check out what we were able to capture as John and Amanda’s Creek Haus Wedding Photographer, you can find their antler-chic wedding on our blog.
