Welcome
This past weekend was such a fun one for me and Dylan! Friday was our three year anniversary of being engaged!! Yes, we still keep track of all those milestones, as well. I remember that day well and still get irritated with the fact that on that morning he asked me if I wanted to go look at engagement rings, knowing full and well he had the ring in his pocket when he asked me! Always a sneaky one, that husband of mine! He took me to Rockport that day and we toured this historical monument.
Then, we went to a scenic park/trail walk where I was taking photos (of course, I was taking photos, but this was back in the day when I was shooting on Auto and knew nothing of photography – I just liked photos). This next shot is just before he got down on one knee.
Then, Dylan asked that question. The question he had so anxiously waited to ask me, the question that kept him up at night for two weeks, the question that he pondered over instead of eating. He looked up at me from one knee and asked “Can I give you this?” as he held out the most beautiful ring. My answer was something along the lines of “How long have you had that?!?!”
We, then, proceeded to call every family member we could get a hold of and started texting old friends with the good news. We drove out to my grandparents’ house the next day, where I started to do what every girl does: put my ring in every flower bed my grandmother had a took a picture of my new engagement ring!
It is far from my best work, but it was my first time taking a photo of an engagement ring and I was so proud. Proud that I would soon be able to call Dylan my husband! That is such an exciting time and I love remembering those days every time I get to chat with a newly engaged couple. The feeling NEVER gets old.
We celebrated the three year engagement anniversary with dinner and a coffee/concert date in Austin. I’ve been eating raw these last few days, so Dylan found a place called Beets that serves only raw food and it was delicious (although, my meat-etarian husband may have a different mind set as there was no steak to be had)! After dinner, we headed over to Mozarts, which I love, and they had a few musicians to entertain that night over coffee.
On Saturday, my parents hosted their annual Easter Egg hunt, where we got to spend time with friends and family – even my grandparents made the drive to visit that day! I got to play “Easter Bunny” and rolled the eggs out all over the lawn. The oldest kid is just over 3 years old, so there is no need to “hide” the eggs just yet. Although we kid that these are the faces we make when asked to be the Easter bunny, it really is quite fun and even better to watch the kids run around with excited faces over finding eggs of every shape and color!
Sunday, I helped with videoing a project at church that goes with part of the new series called “Who was Jesus?” I still don’t know just yet what the outcome will be and am ALWAYS nervous to hand over my SD card without any editing on my part, but, as the preacher’s wife so wisely told me, why worry since you can’t change it? I was also accused of being a wedding photographer for too long that morning, as there were some couples that I asked to smooch for the camera, since I knew they were married. It was just to give them an action, really. Most people find it easier to be in front of the camera if there is an action to do and encouragement coming from behind the camera, so I usually give an action and encourage. What’s wrong with that?
I hope all of yall had an even better weekend than I did and took just a little bit longer to remember the reason of the season! The resurrection is my favorite part of the Bible and I’m so glad that we have the opportunity to say Thank you.
