I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Are you ready for Cinco de Mayo? It gives us an excuse to celebrate culture, throw parties, and cook fajitas! More than our love of our heritage, it also lets us celebrate the vivid colors of Spring. Using those Spring-time colors we find all over the Texas Hill Country as inspiration, a group of Austin wedding vendors threw a mini-fiesta (albeit, a little early) in honor of the holiday! Today, I’m SO excited to finally be able to share that shoot with you!
Using a mock bouquet as a jumping off point, a team of AWESOME Austin wedding vendors came together to design a styled wedding shoot with the idea of Cinco de Mayo in mind. Wanting to celebrate the bold colors of Spring, we choose vibrant oranges, blues, and yellows and hope that this shoot will encourage brides to have FUN with color.
We, also, chose to incorporate the very-popular mix-match styling by incorporating a variety of plate-ware, Mexican coke bottles, and vases.
The mix-matched plates came from Target (and I wanted to keep them for my home)!
We used sombreros as place holders, which could be easily used in photo booths, as well!
Right about this time during the shoot, my camera died. I mean just DIED. It wasn’t a battery. It wasn’t the lens. My sidekick had to be sent back to Nikon and I may have cried. A little. All that to say: Thank Goodness I brought a back up camera.
A HUGE Thank you to all the vendors who came together to put this shoot together in UNDER 24 hours! Yea – you read that right. We didn’t plan too much for this shoot, it all just kind of came together last minute. Spontaneity (or procrastination, if you prefer to look at it that way) can spark some very creative ideas and I’m so happy with how the shoot came together! Amanda of Heavenly Day Events is the one who jump-started this Cinco de Mayo styled shoot into action. Flora Fetish already had a mock bouquet and some left over flowers from the prior weekends show that went PERFECTLY! They also let us take some vases from their rental selection. The Union on Eighth was the perfect backdrop for us and is so conveniently located up north (which was a great thing for all involved vendors). More than that, they left us the key! WHAT!?!? The owners were out of town, but were still gracious enough to let us use their beautiful space, so a SUPER GREAT Thank you to them. The ladies at All Dolled Up Austin were just precious, as always! I adore working with those girls and they had our model picture-perfect with their mad hair and make-up skills. Serendipity Bridal let us pick up a handful of dresses after letting us try them on all afternoon. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
