I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Kristen met Shane when they were just five years old. The two played soccer on the same team. They were both a bit quieter than the other kids, so they were often found side by side. They even stood next to each other in the team photo. Their two families became neighbors and started to vacation together every summer. In 2009, Shane sent Kristen a text message that asked her who she liked. She texted him back three letters: Y-O-U. Kristen liked Shane and the two started dating that day, just before they headed off on their summer vacation with their two families. Nine years later, the two became husband and wife. It was a joy to be their Kindred Oaks wedding photographer! Here is a peek at their mist blue wedding in Georgetown.
Over the last year, Kristen and Shane have written each other letters every month. They exchanged those monthly letters (written on the 29th of every month – their anniversary date) the morning of their wedding at Kindred Oaks. What a keepsake these letters will be to them and their children in the decades to come!
Just before Kristen got into her wedding dress, she cheers-ed to a new chapter of her life with her bridesmaids.
Once Kristen was in her dress, her daddy was the first one to see her as a bride! Yes, there were tears!
Her bridesmaids were the next ones to see her all dolled up and they took a moment to pray over Kristen, Shane, and their new marriage.
I loved Shane’s reaction to seeing his bride walk down the aisle with her father!
Every lady of the Martin family had tears in their eyes when Shane made his vows to Kristen. He called her a blessing and said she has taught him how to love, forgive, and pray.
After their parents prayed over Kristen and Shane, the two took a moment to have communion as their first act as a married couple. Last year, on their 8 year anniversary, Kristen gifted Shane a Bible for their family that they’ll build together. You can tell that these two are very intentional about putting GOD first in their relationship.
Nine years in the making and they’re officially married!!
Bliss is my favorite junior bridesmaid of all time! Seriously! She was so helpful ALL day without even being asked! She cleared up the bridal suite for photos, helped Kristen with her dress, and made sure the littlest ring bearer was smiling for photos! She was the best helper!
Kristen and Shane used his dad’s Mustang as their getaway car. It perfectly matched their mist blue wedding color!
Spinning dress shots will always be my favorite!!
Guests were invited to play Giant Jenga and Cornhole during cocktail hour, but I’m pretty sure the swing at Kindred Oaks was the biggest hit for photos!
Kristen and Shane’s Kindred Oaks wedding reception was set up in the classic combination of white and green with a hint of blush.
Did you notice the scoreboard of the groom’s cake?! Kristen’s sweet mom, Pam, pointed it out to me. The time on the clock is their wedding day and the score is the year they got married! How cute is that?!? I love the little details!
I love how close this family is!! Kristen’s sisters toasted the newlyweds and shared the duties of Maid/Matron of Honor and Shane’s new brother-in-law served as Best Man. Just after her first dance with her son, Shane’s mom hugged Kristen’s sisters. When Kristen was dressed, she brought in her dad, her grandparents, Shane’s mom, his grandmother, and his dad. She gifted all four of their parents something on their wedding day, not just her parents. These two families have known each other for almost 20 years! I can’t really imagine how much joy they shared when their two families were officially combined into one by Shane and Kristen’s marriage! What a blessing to have one of your children marry one of your best friends’ children! What a blessing, as well, for all of the siblings and their spouses (and future spouses) to be best friends with each other!
One couple dominated the bouquet and garter tosses! It was so cute how they both celebrated after each catch! There was seriously so much joy this whole day!
Kristen and Shane – I can’t explain how grateful I am to be chosen as your Kindred Oaks wedding photographer! Dylan and I had such a great time celebrating with your sweet families, again! We loved meeting y’all at Katelynn and Joseph’s wedding in 2016 and are so thankful you invited us to document your day, as well! Every minute of your wedding was a joy to witness! We pray that y’all are as intentional with your marriage over the next 80 years as y’all were on this very first day. Congratulations!
