Welcome
You may already know that Dylan and I had the privilege of attending the Blink Conference in Austin, Texas in early November. If not, you’re welcome to read all about our experience at the Blink Conference on the blog here. These are some of the images I was able to shoot during Reginald Campbell’s mentoring session at the Domain and Lone Star Court.
I love how effortlessly Benn could make Antoinette laugh.
Apparently, we’re not allowed to shoot at the Domain (OOPS!), so we headed back to Lone Star Court where the conference was being held. Reginald gave our couple prompts and actions to do, then had them repeat each one three times. Every time, we (as a group of shooters) were supposed to do something different. Change something: settings to add movement, lens for a different feel, or move our feet to change our angle to add variety to the couple’s images.
I really do love that you could SEE Benn was head over heels for his girl! He was checking her out, getting snuggly, offering his jacket, kissing her hands and keeping them warm! It’s always in the little gestures between couples.
Reginald loves black and white film. It is kind of fun to shoot in black and white. If you (as the photographer) shoot in black and white, you can really see the light better, as you’re less distracted by the competing colors in every shot. If you shoot RAW, the camera actually saves the color settings so you can play with the edit in post-processing, but allows you to see the JPEG preview in black and white while you shoot. I didn’t know that! Fun fact!
Thank you to Lone Star Court for hosting the Blink Conference! Thank you Blink Conference for inviting such talented photographers from all over to learn from, including Reginald Campbell! Thank you, Reg, for being willing to share and inspire! Thank you, Benn and Antoinette for making such cute models! It was a joy to photograph y’all!
