If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you’ll have seen recently that Dylan and I just got back from a week’s vacation in Belize.  While we have been wanting to escape to the Caribbean for quite some time now, our push to book when we did was that Tammy and Brian wanted us to photograph their Valentine’s Day beach elopement at Mata Chica Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye in Belize.  We were EXTREMELY flattered and honored to have been asked to travel to another part of the globe to capture their sweet day.

Conch shells were used in the garland heart set up for Tammy and Brian’s beach destination wedding ceremony.  

There aren’t any roads on Ambergris Caye, so everyone travels by boat, foot or bike.  

Brian and Tammy had a sand ceremony immediately after they said their vows.  You can see just how WINDY it was on their wedding day in the below right shot!  HA!  The white sand was sand scooped up from the beach the two tied the knot on.

Orchids are everywhere in Belize and one species is actually the national flower of Belize.  With that, it only seemed fitting to have some orchids in Tammy’s bridal bouquet.  Also on her bouquet were mementos of loved ones who were unable to make the ceremony in person, but wanted to send well wishes for the couple and celebrate with them in spirit.  

At one point, Tammy mentioned a quote about “Sandy Toes and Salty Kisses.”  So, of course, I immediately asked the two of them to show me their toes while kissing!  :D Of course, they had to have a boat grand exit!  It’s very appropriate for the lifestyle of the island!

Brian and Tammy, THANK YOU so much for inviting us to document your destination beach wedding ceremony in Belize!  We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and you gave us the perfect excuse to go!
