I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Mandy and Kevin tied the knot on Saturday. It was so great to be their Stonehouse Villa wedding photographer and to witness their love for one another. One of my favorite parts was how much their families loved each other. At one point, Kevin joked that if Mandy ran, he would chase her. Her dad, without missing a beat, said that if Mandy ran, he (Mandy’s dad), and her three brothers would chase her to bring her back to Kevin. Each family loves this duo together and is so supportive of their union.
Mandy’s dad was the first one to sneak a peek at the bride. There were so many tears from both Mandy and her dad. It’s one of the sweetest daddy daughter first looks I’ve ever seen. There are so many sweet moments in this wedding that I basically wanted to make EVERY image black and white! You’ll definitely pick up on that when you see more of their images. Mandy and Kevin were so well loved on their wedding day at Stonehouse Villa in Driftwood!
Mandy owns her own business making headboards. She gave her dad this hammer on her wedding day as a thank you. Thank you for teaching her how to run a small business. Thank you for teaching her how to make headboards. More than those, thank you for raising her to be the kind, loving person she is.
Mandy also gifted her mom a frame with some kind words in it. With her mom sitting by her side, Mandy read the heartfelt message aloud to her mom. Mandy was crying. Her mom was crying. Her dad was crying. (Even her photographer may have been crying.) I’m so glad that the three of them were able to have this moment and that Mandy took time to tell her parents all that they mean to her.
Then, it was time for Mandy and Kevin’s first look! A first look on a wedding day lets a couple have true reactions to seeing one another on their wedding day, without the pressure or expectations with wedding guests as an audience. It also helps to get some of those wedding day jitters out. Mandy was SO READY to see Kevin on her wedding day and they shared a super sweet first look, full of tears, laughter and hugs.
Kevin wrote Mandy a letter on their wedding day and shared it with her during their first look. I’m not sure what he wrote in it, but it must have been good! His love note had Mandy crying and laughing. I hope they always take time to write each other love notes throughout their marriage.
Another bonus of doing a first look on your wedding day is that your bridal party gets to take pictures before the ceremony. For this bridal party, that meant more time at cocktail hour and more time celebrating Cinco De Mayo (and Mandy and Kevin’s wedding reception).
I loved the grayed jade and blush with cream color palette that Mandy and Kevin chose for their Stonehouse Villa Wedding! It was perfect for a Spring wedding!
Mandy and Kevin’s Stonehouse Villa wedding ceremony included a wine ceremony. They put a bottle of their favorite wine and love notes to each other into the box and will open it on their first anniversary. I love that they also committed to put a different bottle in the box with more letters to each other on each anniversary to follow. The collection of letters when they celebrate 50 years of marriage will definitely be something to cherish!
I’m not sure Mandy ever stopped crying through the toasts. Her dad started with a thank you to Kevin’s parents for raising a man that he was proud to call his son now. Once the tears started (and if you’re a girl that sees her dad cry, you will cry, as well – guaranteed!), they just kept flowing! Mandy is the youngest of 4 siblings and is the only girl. Her oldest brother thanked her for teaching him how to be a better parent to his own kids. He remembers the moment his parents told the three boys that they were pregnant. Mandy’s brother was 12 at the time.
After the cake was cut, Mandy and Kevin’s epic dance party got started! It was Cinco de Mayo, so you’ll see sombreros and pinatas! Goldline Entertainment kept the party going!
Mandy and Kevin, thank you so much for inviting us to document your Stonehouse Villa Wedding! We absolutely adored spending the day with y’all and watching your families love on y’all all day! Congratulations!
