I'm Mylah, a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas, capturing timeless and intentional memories that celebrate marriage.
Welcome
Kristyne and Austin shared their first date at Starbucks. Just over a year later, Kristyne found herself strolling around Barnes and Noble with Austin. He pointed out one of their favorite books, Harry Potter. She didn’t think much of it, as they own all the books and all the movies already. Austin brought her attention back to the book, “Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince”. She picked it up and found a ring inside, at “The Unbreakable Vow” chapter. Austin got down on one knee and asked Kristyne to spend the rest of their lives together. She said yes and the two promised forever this past Saturday in Taylor, Texas.
Their wedding ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor. This is the same church her parents were married in and the same place her sister was married in.
You may recognize two of the wedding party members! Last year, we had the joy of photographing Kristyne’s brother’s wedding at Twisted Ranch. It was such an honor to be able to celebrate with this sweet family, once again.
At their reception, Kristyne and Austin included a few “Harry Potter” elements. The music during cocktail hour was the soundtrack for “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars” alike. How fun is that?! Also, on their guest book sign in table was a frame that said “Always” on the inside. Fans of the series will know this is how Snape responds to Dumbledore when he asks if he has loved Lily after all this time. One of the letters was replaced with an image of a stag, Harry’s Patronus. What may have been the crowd favorite, especially by all the kiddos, was the cake! Austin’s groom’s cake was complete with a Gryffindor house-colored scarf, a wand, Harry’s glasses, and the sorting hat! This is definitely one of my all time favorite cakes!
We stepped outside for a few minutes to take full advantage of the dreamy light at golden hour, just before sunset.
Kristyne and Austin – thank you so much for inviting us to document your Taylor Texas Wedding! We loved that y’all made the day reflect y’all’s personality, including your shared love of “Harry Potter”!
