Welcome
Angelica and Kamal tied the knot this past Saturday at the Texas Federation of Women’s Club Mansion in Austin. We could hear the tail-end of SXSW and embraced the rain that was present all day. Just about the time we were starting to have fun with the bridesmaids portraits, one of the moms, who were both admiring the beautiful bride, shouted that Kamal had just arrived. Of course, since we were taking pictures in front of the TFWC Mansion, we had to scramble everyone inside! Kamal must have been excited for his wedding day to have finally arrived, as he was present 30 minutes early! Shortly after he arrived, Kamal’s mother pinned his boutonniere on his jacket lapel and the bride and groom shared a blind first look. Neither could see the other, but still had the chance to hold hands and say hello before walking down the aisle. I was quite impressed with their ability to not peek at the other one, as I know I wouldn’t have had that much self control! With the rain showering the courtyard, where the two had originally planned to tie the knot, the wedding ceremony was moved into the ballroom at the Texas Federation of Women’s Club Mansion. I love when the bridal party is willing to have a little fun in front of the camera, and this group did not disappoint!
At one point, Angelica reached down to adjust her dress and when she did, I couldn’t help but ask her to throw it around. What happened after that are some of my favorite wedding photos to date! It’s so great to have fun with a dress that you’re only going to wear once. What I love even more about Angelica was that she wasn’t so concerned about getting her dress wet despite the rain that was still coming down during their romantic portraits. Having beautiful photos of her and Kamal from their wedding day was more important and I adore that! I love that they opted to make a donation to Palestinian and Mexican-American families to support their education and improve their quality of life instead of the normal wedding favors, that don’t always leave a lasting impression. It makes you just want to hug these two! After they entered their reception dancing, a mariachi band serenaded the newlyweds as they started their party! Kamal and Angelica danced the night away with their friends and family. It was a fabulous wedding that I’m so thankful to have been able to witness.
