Welcome
Brandon and DeAnne met through a mutual friend, but they didn’t start dating for some time. DeAnne knew there was something special about Brandon when she realized that he could make her laugh during a difficult time when her laughter had faded. His ability to do so drew her in and a few short weeks later, he was meeting her parents. This last December, after graduation, Brandon asked DeAnne to be his partner in life with their parents present. She said yes and the two are planning a ranch wedding this fall.
Their wedding is going to have a vintage vibe to it. Knowing this and that they enjoy getting drinks with friends, we headed to Peche for their engagement photos in downtown Austin, Texas. This cocktail bar prides itself on serving sinful drinks reminiscent of the pre-prohibition days and they did not disappoint!
While I would not normally suggest starting your engagement session so early in the afternoon (about an hour before sunset is the best time for portraits), we needed to be out of Peche before they opened at 4PM. This meant sunglasses were a totally appropriate accessory and a fun way to add some personality into their images. I also ADORE DeAnne’s second outfit! How cute is that skirt?!? And those heels?!?
We headed to the “Greetings From Austin” Mural just outside of Roadhouse Relics. It was a great way to bring in some “Austin” to their engagement photos.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay there too long, as they were in full sun and it was HOT that day (as in: the Jeep was reading over 100 degrees). Knowing we needed shade, but didn’t want to do the outdoorsy look, I suggested shooting next to a parking garage. Yes, you read that right: I told them a parking garage could make a cool background that would really make DeAnne’s skirt pop. These two didn’t bat an eye and said “Sure! Let’s go!” That’s what I love about them: they’re pretty much down for just about anything – especially if it might be fun!
Brandon really wanted a photo of him picking up his fiance, so we’ll end with this picture.
Brandon and DeAnne – I had so much fun with y’all adventuring downtown Austin for your engagement session last week! Thank you for braving the heat and for having such a laid-back attitude! My favorite part was definitely getting to know the two of you even better after your session was over at Peche with drinks and appetizers! It made me that much more excited for your big day!
