Ashlyn and Luke’s Camp Lucy Sacred Oaks wedding is one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love this work. Every detail, every tear, every laugh told a story worth capturing. I’m Mylah, a wedding photographer in Austin, TX, and I’ve had the honor of photographing nearly 500 weddings across the Texas Hill Country.
Ashlyn and Luke were referred to me by their wedding planner, Altar Ego Weddings. It’s always an honor when a planner refers me to their couple. That kind of trust means everything, and I don’t take it lightly. From the first layflat detail to the last rose petal exit, this Sacred Oaks wedding was full of faith, family, and seven years of love finally becoming forever.

Every wedding day starts with the small things. The invitation suite, Ashlyn’s bridal Louboutins, and her jewelry all came together in soft light before the morning got busy. Light blue and white wove through the details, setting the tone for the color palette that would carry through the entire day. These small details tell the story before the story even begins.

Ashlyn’s mom and sister helped her into her gown, a strapless silhouette paired with a cathedral length veil sewn with delicate pearls. Ashlyn wore a pearl necklace her dad gave her years earlier. She’d always said she would wear it on her wedding day, and she did. On her wrist was a pearl bracelet borrowed from her mom, originally a gift from her dad. It represented generations of love, worn together on one wedding day.
Once dressed, Ashlyn shared a first look with her bridesmaids. Their reactions were exactly what you’d hope for! No one had seen the dress yet, so this was a complete surprise! Then came a quieter, more tender moment: her first look with her dad. Ashlyn gave her dad a framed photo of the two of them, with the lyrics to “There Goes My Life” printed around the edges. It was the same song they’d chosen for their daddy-daughter dance. He didn’t hold back his tears.

Ashlyn and Luke chose to share a private first look at the bell tower, just the two of them. From there, they exchanged private vows at the Camp Lucy Sacred Oaks wedding ceremony site before any guests arrived. Ashlyn included words from the Book of Ruth, “Where you go I will go,” a promise that felt perfectly suited to two people who had already walked seven years of life side by side. It was a beautiful start to their Dripping Springs wedding.

No wedding day is complete without the people, and pets, who mean the most. Ashlyn and Luke’s wedding party photos were full of joy, and Ashlyn’s beloved dachshund, Wiggles, made an adorable appearance too. The bridesmaids carried simple, modern bouquets of all white calla lilies. Each bridesmaid wore the same light blue color, but chose her own dress style, giving the group a cohesive yet personal look. Ashlyn’s bridal bouquet was all white, mixing several different bloom types for texture against her strapless gown and pearl-studded veil.

Before the ceremony began, friends and family gathered separately to pray over Ashlyn and Luke. It set a tone of peace and gratitude that carried through the rest of the day and put Christ at the center of their marriage.
The outdoor ceremony space at Sacred Oaks at Camp Lucy is one of the most beautiful in the Texas Hill Country. The aisle was lined with white floral arrangements, leading Ashlyn to Luke who waited at the foot of the cross. Three tiered stands filled with white blooms framed the space where Ashlyn and Luke exchanged I do.
At the end of the aisle, right before he gave his daughter away, Ashlyn’s dad paused to take a quick selfie with her. The joke eased their nerves, and Ashlyn, along with everyone present, burst out laughing. Dad jokes are always a great way to bring laughter into the serious moments, and this one was no exception. It was unplanned, unscripted, and one of my favorite candid moments of the day.

Right after the ceremony, we snuck away for a few quick just married portraits, soaking in that first rush of being husband and wife. Meanwhile, guests made their way to cocktail hour on the back lawn at Sacred Oaks. A drone photo captured the entire scene from above, the property’s oak trees and open Hill Country on full display.

The reception design was elegant and romantic, anchored by a greenery covered chandelier hanging above a long, family style head table for the wedding party. Three tall centerpieces filled with white floral, along with dozens of bud vases, brought the light blue and white palette to life across the table.
Scattering smaller bud vases between taller centerpieces creates visual movement and keeps a reception table from feeling too formal or stiff.

Around 8 PM, half an hour before sunset at this June wedding, we stepped away for golden hour portraits. The soft evening light at Camp Lucy Sacred Oaks is unmatched, and it gave us some of the most romantic images of the entire day. After photographing nearly 500 weddings, this is THE sweet spot for timing for photos of the bride and groom! Also, this first photo wasn’t prompted. These two are just this sweet with each other and it makes my heart so happy!

Their cake topper included the words “Love is patient, love is kind” from 1 Corinthians. They tied their faith into even the smallest details of the reception. After cake cutting came heartfelt toasts, followed by special dances. Ashlyn and Luke performed a choreographed first dance that included a lift, drawing cheers and applause from their guests. Then came the daddy-daughter dance to “There Goes My Life,” the same song from that framed photo earlier in the day. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

Once dinner and special dances wrapped up, the energy shifted into full celebration mode. CO2 cannons and glow sticks turned the reception into an unforgettable dance party. Ashlyn put on a trucker hat that read “Drunk in Love,” while her bridesmaids wore matching pink hats that simply said “Just Drunk.” It was playful, fun, and exactly the kind of moment that makes a wedding feel like the couple.

As the night wrapped up, guests lined the path for a rose petal exit, sending Ashlyn and Luke off as newlyweds under a shower of petals. It was the perfect ending to a day rooted in faith, family, and seven years of love.
