This Union Pointe on the Lake wedding has timeless style, glowy sunset portraits, and one very beloved golden retriever stealing the spotlight! Kristen and Bryan’s wedding day is about to become your newest obsession! Set against sweeping waterfront views at this new Lake Travis wedding venue, their celebration blended classic black-and-white design with heartfelt family moments, emotional storytelling, and one packed dance floor.

As a wedding photographer in Austin, TX with over ten years of experience photographing weddings, one of my favorite parts of documenting a wedding day is seeing how couples make a venue feel uniquely theirs. Kristen and Bryan absolutely nailed that balance. Their day felt elevated and stylish while still staying deeply personal, relaxed, and joy-filled.
I started the day the way I always love to start wedding: with layflat detail photos. Detail styling is honestly my creative warm-up for the day. It gives me a chance to study the textures, colors, florals, jewelry. These are intentional design choices that tell the story of the celebration before the day fully unfolds. Kristen’s details immediately told me this wedding was going to be incredibly chic.
She had three different pairs of earrings for the ceremony and three more options for the reception. As someone who appreciates good styling choices and thoughtful fashion moments, I already knew she had impeccable taste. One bridesmaid even looked over while I was gathering everything and said, “Just trust her,” which instantly made me feel like we were all about to have the best day together.
And then there was Kristen’s wedding band. Her eternity band was so stunning that guests were literally stopping during cocktail hour to admire it up close. The sparkle was unreal.

Kristen described her custom wedding gown as “simple,” but respectfully… absolutely not. Her dress was the definition of timeless elegance. The clean silhouette felt incredibly classic! Of course, she made it fully her own by adding delicate fabric florals dyed just slightly warmer than the gown itself. The floral detailing flowed organically down the train and created so much texture in photos. Paired with a cathedral-length veil, the overall look felt editorial in the best way possible. Kristen absolutely served model energy all day long.

Before the ceremony began, Kristen shared one of the sweetest moments of the entire day inside the bridal suite. Right after her emotional first look with her dad, her family gathered around her for a private prayer before heading to the ceremony. Her mom was already in the room, and then her brother, sister-in-law, and grandmother joined in to pray over her and Bryan’s marriage together. It felt incredibly grounding and emotional in the middle of such an exciting day. Just before everyone left for the ceremony, Kristen showed her grandmother the bracelet she was wearing. The bracelet had been made using the stones from her grandmother’s wedding ring. It was such a meaningful full-circle moment connecting generations of love in one tiny piece of jewelry.

Kristen & Bryan’s Union Pointe on the Lake wedding ceremony took place at The Overlook. A black aisle runner lined with white florals led directly toward a statement floral arch framing Lake Travis behind them. The contrast of the black and white details against the soft blues of the lake created such a timeless aesthetic.

But the true star of the ceremony?
Lucy.
Their golden retriever almost took Kristen out during the ceremony after sitting directly on her mom’s veil. Honestly, it was one of the sweetest moments of the entire day. Everyone just laughed because Lucy is so deeply loved by this family.
What made her presence even more meaningful is that Lucy is a cancer survivor. Hearing everyone talk about how grateful they are that she’s still here made every photo with her feel even more emotional. Kristen shared that Lucy has been happier ever since they moved to Austin together to start this next chapter with Bryan.

Cocktail hour took place beneath the venue’s open-air pavilion. Guests enjoyed uninterrupted sunset views over Lake Travis while sipping cocktails and mingling with family and friends. This is one of the things that makes a Union Pointe on the Lake wedding so special. Guests are constantly connected to the scenery no matter where they are on the property. The lake becomes part of the experience instead of just the backdrop.

Union Pointe on the Lake is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about wedding venues near Austin! After photographing this celebration, it’s easy to see why. One thing I especially love as a photographer is how the venue keeps the lake visible throughout nearly every part of the wedding day. The Lakeside Reception Hall keeps those views front and center with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow guests to watch the sunset over the water while celebrating inside.
The reception design carried the same timeless black-and-white aesthetic throughout the evening. It felt incredibly elegant without feeling overly formal or stuffy. White florals and layered greenery filled the reception space with a mix of elevated centerpieces and lower arrangements directly on the tables, creating beautiful dimension throughout the room. Black napkins added the perfect contrast against the clean tablescapes. Each each guest’s place setting included a personalized name cut out, a custom menu, and the cutest monogrammed cookie waiting at their seat.
The cake design tied everything together perfectly. The three-tier wedding cake featured delicate sugar flowers along the bottom tier, a clean smooth middle layer, and pearl detailing wrapping around the top tier. Each layer was finished with black ribbon, making the entire design feel classic, polished, and completely in line with the overall vision for the day.

After their grand entrance and first dance, we snuck outside for golden hour portraits and WOW. I’ve been photographing weddings across Austin and the Hill Country for over a decade and I can confidently say Union Pointe on the Lake has some of the best sunset light on Lake Travis.
These portraits perfectly showcase why I always encourage couples to carve out golden hour portrait time into their timeline. The secret is to head out about 30 minutes before sunset when the light starts turning soft and glowy. That timing gives us the dreamiest golden tones!
And yes, of course Lucy the Golden Retriever joined us! She wore the cutest bandana that read “I Do Too” with their wedding date. Lucy fully understood that she was part of the main character cast for the evening! Some of my favorite portraits from the entire wedding happened during this little sunset window together. This portion of the gallery is heavily portrait-focused because the light, scenery, and emotion all aligned perfectly.

Once we headed back inside the reception hall, Kristen and Bryan immediately showed guests exactly who they are as people. Before cutting their own cake, they first celebrated every guest with an April birthday by singing happy birthday and serving birthday cake to them first. I genuinely think that says everything about their character. Even on their wedding day, they were still finding ways to celebrate other people.
Only after that did they cut their own wedding cake. Kristen’s nephew managed to sneak a taste during the cake cutting. Between his dance moves and his overall energy all night long, he may have been the third biggest star of the evening behind Lucy and the couple themselves.

One of the most memorable moments from the reception came during Kristen’s parents’ toast.
Her mom shared some dating advice Bryan had once shared while he and Kristen were dating. He told her that when you date someone, you also need to “date their mom” because family is often a package deal. You need to genuinely build relationships with the people your partner loves most.
Then Kristen’s mom followed it up with the joke that her Chick-fil-A dates with Bryan weren’t exactly the same as Kristen getting trips to Paris. The entire room lost it laughing. Those are the kinds of stories that make wedding days unforgettable. They reveal the personality and love behind the celebration.

As the night continued, guests hit the dance floor fueled by espresso martinis and one of the best late-night snacks ever: Raising Cane’s. I will forever stand by this opinion: Guests rarely care about traditional wedding favors anymore. Late-night snacks, however? Absolute crowd favorite every single time.
There is something deeply healing about getting handed crispy chicken tenders after hours of dancing. Kristen was even sneaking her dog, Lucy, pieces of chicken on the dance floor, which honestly made me love her even more.

Before the night ended, we stepped outside one last time for nighttime portraits. We included the gazebo and beside a marquee sign featuring their new last name. They wrapped up the evening with a sparkler exit. Surrounded by cheering friends and family, sending them off from their Union Pointe on the Lake wedding in the most celebratory way possible.

Kristen and Bryan’s wedding perfectly captured what makes weddings at this Lake Travis venue so special. Between the waterfront views, open-air spaces, and golden hour light, the property creates endless opportunities for meaningful and beautiful moments.
But more than anything, this day stood out because of the people.
The way they celebrated family, including sweet Lucy, in every part of the day.
The way they prioritized joy, connection, and guest experience.
Those are always the weddings that leave the biggest impact.
